Heya!!! This’ll be my first blog/news post! I’m Nova, and I enjoy video games, especially indie ones. I love to call my friends, and my favorite animal is a fox. I don’t do sports, but I am currently in Model UN, Art and Pottery Club, Improv, ITS, and Young Democrats Club, just off the top of my head. I’m currently working on my own video game, and am taking a break from working on it for now. My favorite show is the Daily Show. I like kids cartoons, video essays, and reading. I go by She/They. I am pansexual. I am here to make the case that I am not brainwashed. I am a human being with logic and morals.
I have ADHD, and am currently hyperfixated on politics, especially US politics. I’ll admit I don't know everything, however, I’ll try my best to provide facts. This blog will be my journey documenting me learning about politics, and I’ll be following the second Trump presidency, and focusing on LGBTQ+, women’s, disabled people, and people of color’s rights.
Today I'd like to speak on misinformation, and how gullible people really are.
In recent years, social media use has skyrocketed, especially among youth, and along with AI, creates a perfect environment for misinformation to flourish. I have a friend, she wasn't aware the Ukraine-Russia war was still going on because the media just stopped covering it. It just stopped being popular. Kids are no longer educated, especially on politics. Many kids in my high school don't even know what the electoral college is. People see information online, and are too lazy and/or ignorant to fact check. I am a democrat, yet I can acknowledge every party is susceptible to misinformation. For example, with the democrats, there was a list of "banned books" that went viral on TikTok. Many people thought these books were genuinely being removed from the US. This is completely false. The closest true fact to that is states thinking abut banning LGBTQ+ books, which is obviously bad, but not even close to the extent of the sheer amount of books on that list.
I'm not too motivated right now lol. As i type this, I'm currently waiting for Kamala Harris to do a speech.
